Course Information
Description In-depth study and applications of polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic functions, and systems of equations using matrices. Additional topics such as sequences, series, probability, and conics may be included.
Prerequisites Corequisite: MATH 1314

Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will:
1. Define, represent, and perform operations on real and complex numbers.
2. Recognize, understand, and analyze features of a function.
3. Recognize and use algebraic (field) properties, concepts, procedures (including factoring),
and algorithms to combine, transform, and evaluate absolute value, polynomial, radical,
and rational expressions.
4. Identify and solve absolute value, polynomial, radical, and rational equations.
5. Identify and solve absolute value and linear inequalities.
6. Model, interpret and justify mathematical ideas and concepts using multiple
representations.
7. Connect and use multiple strands of mathematics in situations and problems, as well as in
the study of other disciplines

Your MATH 1314 grade is completely separate from this grade. You may reference your specific Math 1314 College Math course for the determination of your Math 1314 Final Grade.
Course Policies
Instructor Policies Grades will only be discussed in person. Any email must identify your course in the subject line and should preferably be sent from your Lamar Port Arthur email. Any voice mail needs to include your name and specific question with a phone number to return the call.

Support Course Forms are to be turned in upon entering the classroom to receive credit for being present.
Attendance Policy Class Attendance Expectations: Attendance in this class is a matter of state law-5 absences may result in immediate course failure. (This would mean that you missed 2 1/2 weeks of class).
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
